What Glitters Is Gold (you will be directed to nailpro.com): I love gold in the summer; it’s reflected in the sun’s rays, glittery flecks of sand and shimmer on the ocean. Nail artist Patricia Yankee agreed that lustrous gold nails would be perfect for an August cover, and came prepared with five different metallic gold, full-coverage tips accented with glitter, lace and beads. We opted for the almond-shaped nail with a glitzy free edge, as they were the most fashion-forward and show stopping. Makeup artist Lauren Gott created a sooty eye with highlights of blue on a faux sun-kissed face. Hairstylist Giovanni Giuliano gave us a couple of options for the hair, but with so much going on between nails, makeup and jewelry, we decided that hair pulled into in a messy chignon would work the best. We wanted to create the feel of a gritty, sultry summer night, so why not spike the nails, cuff and ring with color and feature the rest in black and white? Photographer Cory Sorensen didn’t even blink at that request, and worked the lighting just right so we could get exactly the sizzling August night feel that we wanted. Success!
